Lobenberg: Sehr expressives Nasenbild: eingekochte Blaubeeren, Waldhimbeere, Walderdbeere. Es scheint, als ob sich Schicht um Schicht von Aromen am Gaumen entblättern. Die Textur ist fast einmalig und man hat das Gefühl, als ob sich die Zunge durch Weingelee drücken müsste. Am Gaumen dann überraschenderweise zunächst Erdbeeren, und dann Waldbeeren, gestützt von extrem poliertem Tannin. Im Abgang wird das Tannin durch Mineralität ersetzt und Aromen von dunklen Früchten hallen sehr lang nach. Schon ob seiner Stilistik ein absolut spektakulärer Wein, der aber auch extrem elegante Facetten hat. 96-97/100

-- JDRR: The estate’s top cuvee, the 2009 Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine du Caillou Reserve comes mostly from the sandy soils of the Guigasse vineyard and is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre that’s aged in 1, 2, and 3-year-old demi-muids for 18 months. Always showing a deeper, inkier color than the Les Quartz, the wine delivers a powerful, yet elegant profile with decadent aromas of blackberry liqueur, kirsch, black licorice, singed leather, and masses of crushed stone-like minerality on the nose. Very concentrated and with a rich, full-bodied, yet seamless feel, this silky, polished beauty should drink well with a couple years in bottle, and have 12 to 15 years or more of longevity. 96/100
