Lobenberg: Eine kleine Einzellage in Verduno, quasi herausgenommen aus dem Ortswein, nur 0,8 Hektar. Winzige Mengen. Er greift die tändelnde Eleganz des Ortsweins Barolo Veduno auf, aber er ist etwas wilder und hat mehr Power. Auch hier sehr blumig. Rose, daneben Minze, Anis, wieder Flieder und Veilchen. Aber auch Granit und Orangenzesten an den Seiten. Eine leichte Exotik. Auf der einen Seite noch eleganter als der Barolo Verduno und gleichzeitig viel mehr Power. Mehr Volumen, mehr Fleisch in der Mitte. Extrem komplex. Super seidige Tannine, eine wahnsinnige Schönheit. Mir ist es ein Rätsel, wie ich bisher an diesem Weingut vorbeigehen konnte. Das ist eine Art von Barolo, wie sie mir extrem gefällt. Eleganz mit Multikomplexität. Nie fett, immer verspielt und trotzdem von allem viel und reichlich. Tanzende Schönheiten aus Verduno. 96+/100

Opening to a medium dark garnet color, the San Lorenzo di Verduno offers more substance and richness compared to the other wines in this estate portfolio. It offers quite a bit of textural richness and momentum, and the perfumes of the bouquet are also a little more pronounced as a result. This is a sturdy, rock solid wine to pair with important meat dishes, either stewed or roasted. The wine will be released in the fall 2021. 94/100

-- Suckling: Ripe red fruit with tinges of walnuts and cardamom-like spice. Full-bodied with intense fruit driving through the firm tannin wall and appearing on the other side in a long, fresh finish. This will even out with time and become very fine indeed. Be patient. Drink from 2024 onwards. 94/100
