Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
-- Parker: The 2009 Clos de Vougeot is a serious, intense wine laced with dark red fruit, smoke, tobacco and licorice. There is an exotic raciness here that is beautiful to behold as the wine literally explodes on the palate with a never ending array of flavors, aromas and textures. All of the elements flow together gracefully towards the rich, palate staining finish. This is simply dazzling. The Clos de Vougeot carries its 75% new oak with notable grace. Anticipated maturity: 2021-2034. 93-96/100
-- Burghound: A discreet touch of wood spice adds aromatic breadth to the earthy and reserved red berry fruit nose that also offers up a suggestion of the sauvage that carries over to the rich, powerful and admirably concentrated big-bodied flavors that culminate in an impressively long, energetic and youthfully austere finish. This is a big and muscular but not rustic example that will require plenty of cellar time. 95/100
-- Galloni: Bright medium red. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, licorice and minerals. Seamless, sappy and explosive on the palate, conveying an impression of silkiness without weight. Really explosive mouthfilling perfume here, even if there's plenty in reserve for a long and positive evolution in bottle. The wonderfully fresh, mounting finish features substantial dusty tannins and resounding black cherry and dark chocolate flavors. "The 2009s are to drink anytime," noted Grivot. "Even this Clos Vougeot would be great with grilled beef now." A great vintage for this bottling, which is partly from vines located in the so-so northeast corner of this vineyard. 95/100 -- Stephen Tanzer
